Random lunch choice while out running errands. What a great find. Really reasonable lunch deals between 11 and 4, even on the weekend! $5.95 and $6.95 plates, and you can get select rail drinks for under $6. Popular with the blue hairs but that's alright, they have good taste and know a deal when they see one. I got the 1/4 chicken plate and my wife had the patty melt, both were good. The mai tai my wife had was a tall 16oz beverage that was a good deal and a good drink. I opted for the rail manhattan under $6. Need a suggestion for date night? Check them out, we'll be back!

We went to Andrew's Open Pit yesterday for an early dinner. I ordered a 1/2 slab of BBQ ribs which came with salad and rice (potato, fries also options). The ribs were tasty but it seemed that they were just about done! They were chewy and I seem to prefer the almost fall off the bone style. My boyfriend ordered the Patty Melt which was very juicy and tasty. Because you walk into the bar and see the menu with the specials there, he assumed that those were the prices since we got there before 4pm, When the bill came, he was told that those were bar prices and did not include the fries. I found it OK but I was a bit disappointed due to all the rave reviews on Yelp! This is a very large restaurant and is in a small strip mall so there is plenty of off street parking. It is rather interesting that the BBQ oven and the rotisserie for the chicken is right in the dining room. I think I would like to try Andrew's again to give it another try.

I have frequented Andrews I cannot name how many times it was my mother's favorite restaurant! Yes it's filled with seniors it's inexpensive but if you get there specials I have never had a bad meal. Who can get three porkchops mashed potatoes real vegetable salad and bread for $7.95 You guys are goofy!! And to Ronald K no I don't count who goes there how stupid are you where did that come from? Your review is not accurate PERIOD

We have been coming here for years. Huge portions, reasonable prices, and family owned all make for my favorite combinations. The three styles of half chicken entrees are always moist, hot, and fresh off the rotisserie. The ribs are good solid baby backs, tangy sauce (not home made but it's fine) ,generous cut, and tender out of the smoker in the dining room. Great place for a winter night to sit by the ovens and enjoy a large meal. Salmon is always well prepared and large enough for two servings. Order your burger just a little rare so it will be moist. Skirt steak dinner is also good. I I never leave empty handed. The home made rice pudding is a must!

Been here many times - most of them years ago. I used to work in Park Ridge and Andrew's is where performance reviews were given (eating that meal was no fun!). Guess it prevents crying or other uncomfortable outbursts. My favorite lunch dish is the sloppy salad - salad with chicken tenders and BBQ sauce. Went here again last Saturday for dinner with a group of friends. They all liked it and wanted to come back the next day to try something else. Among the entrees we had were pork chops (3 good-sized ones per portion), steak, steak and shrimp, chicken kabobs. Each dinner came with soup or salad, warm bread to start with, and potatoes or rice. Potatoes came as baked, mashed or french fries. Most of us took part of the meal home because the portion was so large. We requested a bunch of separate checks, and the waitress accommodated without complaint. Steaks were done as was requested. One friend said that the $5.95 mai tai was well worth it. Another said that her baked potato wasn't completely baked. All other comments were positive. I have learned that if you want a decent meal priced reasonably, look for seniors. If they eat there, it's probably good. True in this case as well. I guess people avoid Park Ridge thinking it would be too expensive, but Andrew's is a place to get a good meal at a reasonable price. Since it's in a strip mall, there is plenty of parking.

It's still good, but the prices have gone up over the years and it doesn't feel like such a good deal anymore. It is still a good place to go for traditional American fare.

I really love places like this. I really do. I was probably the youngest person in the joint, and i am 62. It is a throwback to the year 1955. Kind of tacky, kind of seedy, serving good old fashioned food. And there was nothing wrong with it. The wood roasted rotisserie chicken was very good roast chicken, but there wasn't a trace of smoke. The mashed potatoes and gravy were ordinary. Pretty good chicken noodle soup. Everything was fresh and nothing was overpriced. Would I go again? Maybe.

This is a solid neighborhood place. They are a little noisy. Older crowd in a Greek joint. Food is good but not great. Sometimes the place doesn't feel very clean. If you're looking for a good place for basic dishes this will work. Staff is extremely friendly and makes the place worth a stop.

So I've tried this place 3 times, take out every time. I was very disappointed. The first time I had some of my husband steak which at the time seemed under seasoned, but ok I guess. He also had order chicken that evening which was actually pretty good. I'm a steak girl so I decided to try the steak again. I like mine medium-well, when I got home it was still bleeding. So I called and talked to the manager, customer service great. He told me I could come for a replacement. I opt to come another day because it was late. Well, tonight i decided to redeem my replacement, customer service great. Again I ask for medium well, I get home and it's well done/dry. I call again, and let them know this time I'm bringing my new York strip back right away. While I was trying to explain to the manager on the phone that my steak didn't have the slightest pink, he told me that it was supposed too. I was thinking like really, as nice as he was he obviously was not educated about steak temperature because he really told me medium well has no pink. Along with that my order was supposed to come with corn, they gave me broccoli. I also had fries, which were so old. Ok, He offered again to replace my food yet again. No more steak. I give up. Chicken alfredo. Pasta cooked perfect, but the broiled chicken and pasta had no flavor what so ever. Customer service was still good, which is why I decided to go back previously. Besides,I live literally 3 minutes away, I thought I had a place close to home that vibrant substitute some dinner nights without having to go far. But I'm officially, done!

This is a family Greek restaurant that tries to play itself off as a barbecue place because they have one or two items that are barbecued. The place is nice looking inside. It it is in a strip mall and the food looks cheap. To a high quality place and more similar to a chain restaurant. The Mother's Day crowd was very elderly and out of it. Not a fun place at all but then again this is Park Ridge where fun is a three letter word.

I was there on 2/8/14 with my sister. She was taking me to dinner as a belated birthday. I really love this place. People say , "Oh, the crowd is old.". I do not rally care as I guess I am not all that young. The food was pretty excellent. We like to have drinks. I think all the beers are bottled, and though I liked my Blue Moon, I like a Pint better. Debbie loved her vodka and tonic, so maybe have a cocktail? I had the Ribs and Chicken combo with the chicken Rosemary soup. The soup was good, and though I like it and it was nice with lots of chicken, I was thinking, I do not really taste rosemary. Mind you it is great chicken soup! The BBQ chicken, I did not go for White meat as I never ate here before and dark meat stays moister if it is over cooked. Not an issue. The dark meat was nicely cooked and full of flavour and I imagine the white meat is excellent as well. The ribs are pretty damn good! Someone said there is nothing on the potato.... they gave me sour cream and butter and I am able to prepare a baked potato... Debbie had the ground sirloin and it was really nice with onions and mushrooms! I tried it! Foe dessert we had rice pudding. I like rice pudding and actually make it at home. The serving is huge and has a nice amount of whipped cream on top. They have a bar, though I imagine that if might have been more crowded if the weather were not so threatening. Next time I will try a steak, they do chicken and ribs and a ground sirloin well... a steak should rock!

Great wood roasted chicken and mashed potatoes. Service is sometimes lacking but overall pretty good. London broil also one of my favorites.

I had bookmarked this a while back and was happy to finally have a chance to give it a try. The open pit is in the dining area and where they cook the rotisserie chickens. Don't know what I was expecting. Anyway, soup was very good and my chef salad was too much to finish. Burgers are juicy, portions are large, I didn't see the "older" side of the patrons until my second visit, I found them quite entertaining. It feels a little dark, but fills your tummy with good food and that's why it is there :)

Six of us met here for dinner. Different orders among us, all generous portions at very reasonable prices, especially the desserts. We would come back often if we lived in the area, but we came from Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois. This place needs to be a chain and move around the country.

  • Hannah H.

I am a fan of their 'open pit' chicken - the meat was juicy, and the skin was pretty tasty and cracklin' with all that fat that just marinated itself over the pit. +'open pit' chicken :D

Nothing fancy. That is what is beautiful about the Pit. Good food and and excellent value. Everything is good; calamari, steak, chops, and chicken. Professional and attentive staff.

Not very good. Thought I was going in for BBQ and ended up getting a Greek geriatric restaurant. I will not be back.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANDREW'S 1) It's in a strip mall. 2) It's customers are very old. 3) It's owners are very Greek. 4) It's freaking awesome. I've been coming here with my family since it opened and, while the prices have perhaps outpaced the inflation rate, it's still a tremendous deal for a metric ton of delicious food. If you like barbecue and meat, you'll feel at home at Andrew's. The biggest challenge of eating at Andrew's is getting a table at dinner time on a Friday or Saturday evening (the elderly clientele takes all the tables at 5 p.m. and everyone else has to wait at 6 p.m. and beyond). Another challenge is not filling up completely on the delicious bread before you even get to the soup or salad and the main event (for me, that's usually a healthy dose of pork chops or their highly touted wood-roasted chicken). If you're too cool to eat among senior citizens, stay away. If that's the case, stay away from me, too. For the rest of you, enjoy a financially feasible feast. Also great for takeout!

What not to order: Cream of broccoli : This was a thick yellow over salted creamy goup of nasty with 5 broccoli stem slithers. I wasted my money and threw the soup out. How it made it to 'soup of the day,' one will never know. Shrimp Fettucini Alfredo - I ordered it once and don't know what mad science brought me to do it again- it was overpriced & flavorless. There is good shrimp Fettucini Alfredo. It's just not here. It's at 'Father & Son's Italian kitchen' in skokie (creamy, filling, fast and affordable- they also have Vegi ) I will give 'Andrew's' props for fancy packaging ( plastic utensils are wrapped in a paper napkin which is secured by a purple ribbon). Customer service was great. But this is DEFINITELY your place if you like bland food and haven't ever been to nicer restaurants. Enjoy :)

So, we were driving around aimlessly the other night, in the snow and decided to give this place a try based on the Yelp reviews. We were there just before 7 on a Saturday and the line was INSANE! We opted to sit in the bar and eat there rather than wait 45 minutes for a table. Funny thing, but by the time we were leaving, just after 8, there was no line - speaking to the age of the crowd in here. The bartender was really hustling, taking food and drink orders for the dozen or so of us at the bar and handling the orders from the entire restaurant as well. I went with the spaghettini with shrimp and chicken rosemarina soup. Husband had the slab of ribs and a blue cheese salad. When my meal came, the shrimp was missing! The bartender quickly remedied it and all was fine - it was so much food I then felt guilty about not being able to finish it! Very typically Greek place, although less of the push to get you in and out that I am used to in such a place. Food was good quality and very fast to the table. Husband liked his ribs - which came with a baked potato and half corn cob. On the way out, I took a card and on the back, noticed that the place is part of a "group" that owns 9 different places! We'll be trying the tapas place in Arlington Heights next for sure.

Have been here a couple times and was impressed each time. Good steak at a reasonable price. It's hard to spot sometimes bc it's in a strip mall that is not really that close to the main street. It's kinda pushed back a little bit. But it's definitely worth a stop in.

Don't blink, sneeze, or take your eyes off the road for a moment, or else you can easily pass this place right by, as my husband and I did three times. Nestled between business in a bustling strip mall setting, with minimal signage, you may never know that a restaurant is even back there. I was meeting up with some old coworkers here for lunch and to talk about the old days. Friends and what turned out to be a delightful dining experience, made the trip getting here even more worth it. You know, my grandfather would have loved this place. As a mater of fact, I think a lot of grandfatherly types like this place, and that is what it mainly caters to. Not that I am complaining; I love senior-centric restaurants, because old people don't take any crap. They want good food, and good service. Andrew's delivered on both counts. When you walk in the door, I warn you that it is very dark in the entryway and in the lounge that takes up the whole one side of the place. We were promptly all greeted and seated in the restaurant area; which was not as dark, and accentuated with a few roaring wood fireplaces. Our two waitresses were wonderful the whole way through, from soup to after dinner coffees. You could not have wanted to be treated any better. The food was great! Your Greek restaurant style cream of chicken soup was hot and delicious; but the topper was my main course. The best, moist, tender, juicy and flavorful Grecian chicken I have ever had. Words cannot describe how happy I was as I tore into that wonderfully prepared chicken. After dinner coffee was strong and plentiful. Sure, this place is not around the corner from me, but for the price to quality combo, definitely worth a return trip.

Smoked anything ribs and BBQ make this a great place and reasonable prices. Usually go with large groups and they don't have a problem with it.

Great salads. . .Reliably good (not great food). . .never overcooked or poorly served. . .large portions. . .great value and something for everyone. I have tried a variety of dishes other than the salads and have only been disappointed slightly one time out of about 20 visits!

  • Jonathan G.

I love Andrews it's a little dark inside but beside that it is very good. I love the fire that is open showing the chicken roasting. The service some times is slow and a 10-20 min wait sometimes. The ribs are the most delicious thing that I love having overall this is a great place.

For a place in a strip mall, it had more charm than I thought it would. You get a lot of food for a great price. I had the "healthy" salad with chicken. The veggies were fresh but uninspired--lots of green peppers. The chicken was quite tasty. Whatever they marinaded it works. Tangy and juicy. The wine is just okay. I had a glass of Pinot noir and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Should have skipped the alcohol or tried one of their $5 specials--mimosas or bloody Mary's. My husband had the full rack of ribs and said they were very good. He also had their cream of chicken and rice soup and was impressed. The service was prompt and friendly and the waitress gave us a $10 GC for our next visit, so I'm sure we'll go back. Overall, a great place to take family if you are interested in a large quantity of decent food on the cheap.

I had at one time wrote a positive review. However, the true quality of any business is the way they handle a bad situation that they have caused. We were a party of six. It was my 60th birthday. Though I tipped the waitress 25%, perhaps she was having a terrible day and I still wanted to help her financially...... Also, I have no idea who was to blame for the awful service. To make a long story short, it took over ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES to get our dinner.....There was no "bus boy" to ever fill the water glasses. When the food finally arrived, slabs of ribs, they were overcooked and hard tasteless meet and COLD. The $8 Pina Colada's were overly sweet with virtually no alcohol. We had to ask to get bread, which when finally brought to the table, there were only 4 "pads' of butter. The salad that was served may have weighed an ounce. We arrived around 8 or so, there were only 4 or 5 tables being served. It was a Thursday night. I spoke to the manger while there and complained to him after waiting 80 minutes.. I asked for a gift certificate for the next visit to make up for the pitiful service. HE NEVER RETURNED, but as I left he was outside smoking a cigarette. He must have felt that made more sense. I called today and spoke with him again about the poor service from last night. Once again asking for a gift certificate. His response was "your food was served in 20 minutes. I responded that was not true. He continued to tell me he knew that for sure. There was no point in arguing with a manager who basically called me a LIAR...I hung up the telephone at once. I had many choice words for him but kept them to myself. It seemed to make much more sense to write this review. I urge you to avoid this place. You too, would be very displeased if "handled" in this manner. Please do not support a business that calls you a LIAR. The manger had the opportunity to make things right. BUT HAD NO INTEREST IN DOING THAT.

This place is consistently good food at a good price point. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The ribs are very good. We have been patrons a very long time and as long as they are open we will continue to patronize.

My husband and I after a movie decided to have a nice dinner. We went to our first choice and had not made reservations so there was a long wait ahead of us. That being said we left and while heading on our way home decided to go to Andrews Open Pit. We walked in and the first red flag was the clientel. We were the youngest ones there! I'm 49 and my husband is 52! So we were seated and I ordered a New York Strip Steak and my husband the ribs. Big mistake! My steak grey in color, dry, tastless should I say more. Ribs tough, mashed potatoes watery absolutely awful. We asked for our bill and hightailed it out if that place as fast as we could. Needless to say the leftovers, my dog would not even eat it. If you have no taste buds and were born before 1950 this place is for you!

A buddy of mine brought me here. I had the veal w/ mushroom gravy. The veal was over cooked with a crappy texture. THe gravy was decent. The baked potato came with NOTHING! Just a damn potato! It was pretty dry too. The salad was worse than one at Dennys. It was warm iceburg lettuce. The bleu cheese dressing had very little bleu cheese flavor. I had a side of rice. Flavorless. Our Asian waitress was incompetent and very crabby plus didnt know the menu. If you are familiar with the character Miss Swan.... thats who we got! The table next to us gets the BEAUTIFUL bartender/server whos boobs are jumping out of their tented homes as her hair waves around like a shampoo commercial. What do WE get?! Miss freakin' Swan! What horrible luck :( The place is dimly lit and decorated in mid to upper class 1990s-esque decor. The pricing was pretty fair but we ate off the 20th Anniversary discounted menu. So $10 for what I had. If it was more I would have been pretty irked. The food here seems to be given in good sized portions but the quality is not there. I felt like the meal came out of some diner in the middle of nowhere. It was OK. VERY average to below average food that is forgettable as soon as you swallow it. Two stars.

What a gem of a place. You might not even notice it is there in the strip mall, but step inside and you are in a different world. The place is cozy, calming, charming. A nice bar and lovely seating area. A fireplace is going and roasting chickens are rotating in the fire. The food is amazing - whether you go for a quick lunch or a leisurely special dinner. They have everything from very fresh salads to burgers to tempting sandwiches - like even their BLT which comes out as a club on skewers and is huge. ALso they have to special tasting ribs, chicken, steaks or kebabs. Their shrimp dejong is to die for. Very, very, very nice wait staff every time I have been there. Free parking in the ample strip mall lot .

RIDICULOUSLY long wait for cheap, mediocre food that I can make in my broiler in 9 minutes... every time, look forward to a long wait before you are seated and a long wait before you are served, with or without reservations. They'll take your reservation, they just won't hold your reservation. Very rude and smug hostesses too. They originally told me it it would be a ten-minute wait for my reservation that i was on time for: 7 oclock, sharp. (Well, okay, I can tolerate waiting ten minutes. After all, it's mother's day.) We, however, waited for 45 minutes!!. When i was finally told that my family and i were up next by one of the hostess, the other hostess sat a walk-in table instead! When I wanted to talk to the manager about why they are seating walk-ins before reservations, I was told by the "manager," extremely rudely, that if i didn't like it to go somewhere else. So I did. So I ask you, potential Andrews customers, please do not go to this place. Not because their food is terrible, but because the restaurant has extremely poor management and were very rude to my family, myself, but most importantly, because they ruined my mother's Mother's Day. Even if they have treated you well in the past, they are two-faced; They do not care about their customers. The service has been getting worse and worse every time I've been to this awful restaurant, and now I am finished giving them my hard-earned money, that's for sure! I suggest you stop going too, before you have a unforgivably bad experience like I did, I'd love to hear from the owner about my visit. Soggy salads and undercooked vegetables, every time too. How do you screw steamed vegetables up?! This place sucks!

Was feeling ribs the other day and looked up a few places. Never been here before and reviews were good so stopped in for dinner. Had a half slab rib dinner and my GF had a steak and chicken dinner. I'm a little torn with this place. So my ribs were a bit dry but it was tasty. The sauce was awesome. Just felt like party of me was chewing tasty bark. lol. Tried my gf's chicken and again, was tasty but a bit dry. They definitely know how to make their food tasty. However, I'm putting it off as possibly an off day as other reviews are good. Definitely going to try again.

If you are looking for a good home cooked meal away from home, this is the place to go. I started with the chicken rice soup, which would have been perfect had it been hot (it was lukewarm). The French bread was nice and warm and served with real butter. I chose the Chicken Alfredo pasta dish, which was all right (chicken was good, pasta was so-so). My husband had a big plate of steak, ribs, corn on the cob and baked potato. We each completed our meal with a huge piece of apple pie with a healthy dose of cinnamon - yum! No complaints about the service, but the lighting is just a bit dim. The best part about having a good meal? Having a cheap good meal!

I can't believe this place exists. It's a hidden little gem. It's great for an inexpensive but classy dinner. For $8 you can get 1/2 chicken, rice/potato, vegetables/corn, and soup/salad. I may be slightly off. But really. You can get a complete dinner here EASILY. as an appetizer, GET THE CALAMARI. There's a different taste to the way they do it here. A good amount of crunch and flavor texture, and the squid itsself is fresh and almost sweet. Something about it is really tasty.... I'd even eat the greens they serve it on top of. Really delish. I haven't tried anything other than the wood-roasted chicken... but then again, I don't care to try anything else either. It's juicy and tender with great flavors. I usually pick the lemon herb.... dripping with deliciousness and savoriness. But the other types aren't bad either. This place has a full bar which is lounge-like. A little older of a feel for my tastes, but a great option if you want to pre-game before your dinner, or are in line to wait. The place seems to cater to an older crowd, and the staff sometimes seem really unhappy... still, I think it's a great business and a great go-to place in the area. Hopefully it sticks around. I love a place where the bill is easy on my wallet and I have a whole nother round of leftovers I can take home for later.

The food here is decent With a moderate array of steakhouse/barbecue type items. But the manager and hostess of this dated establishment lack the punctuality and politeness to accommodate their customers. They seemed confused and were to us rude! Also they are unaccommodating for large groups. Word of advice next time don't have your Jersey Shore reject of a hostesses (with the crummy attitude) run the front of the house. And your manager and or bosses son to grow a set of balls and take control of situations.

Good food, decent portions & reasonable prices. My kids & I ate there on a Tuesday late afternoon. It wasn't that busy except for the regular early bird specialists (seniors). We will definitely come back.

Great place to pick up a date.....if your over 70. All kidding aside, Andrew's still delivers a fresh decent quality meal in a clean environment. However, Andrew's went from a place to get a good meal for dirt cheap to a place to get a good meal at just ok or reasonable prices. With that said, I would rather go to Omega just a half mile away for same price or little more for superior everything.

Maybe it was fun, kind of. Food was passable. Nah it was OK. My grandmother wanted to go out for dinner and this place was jammed around 5pm. Bluehair Special all around. Nothing beats the aroma of ben-gay and bbq! Huge Portions at a great price.

From the name alone I assumed this would be a BBQ place...but I found the ambiance and menu rather confusing. Walked in and everyone seemed above the age of 80 yrs old lol. It was actually crowded too, so tons of old people. Their menu had maybe 1 page of BBQ, otherwise it was mostly Italian & American food. And they only had 1 type of BBQ sauce..no variety. We ordered calamari (yum), I got 1/4 bbq Chicken (too dry and mediocre sauce), with soup (chicken and rice - probably from a can), fries (bland), and corn on the cob (complete mush & disgusting). My boyfriend got chicken & ribs combo, the ribs were decent and his veggies of carrots & broccoli he said were good. Our server didn't check on us much either or show any smiles. Overall I was very disappointed. Place feels old and musky, menu is lackluster and a poor excuse for bbq, food sucked for the most part. That was my first and last visit :/

I don't get it. It's ok, as far as food goes. Not spectacular, certainly not the best BBQ around. Not in a great location for the age range. Prices are average. Crowd is normally aged 50+ (not complaining, but hardly the bumpin segment). Must be nostalgia keepin it floating.. or clout with some city insiders.. i dunno

  • Heather G.

YAY! I'm a fan! Andrew's can't go wrong! BBQ sauce is out of this world, food is always good--always! (I go here a lot because it is right by my old office!) It is SUPER affordable. Like the price of IHOP or Denny's affordable but a REAL restaurant lol--They have lunch specials under $10 before 4pm! Has a fireplace, full bar, great place have a relaxing lunch or to bring your grandparents to (mostly a local senior crowd). Warm, cozy ambiance. Kinda hard to notice cuz it's in a strip mall.

Delicious dinner and great server, Esa. Prices are outstanding... Incredible value with salad or soup, rice or potato and veggies! We loved the Thousand Island and Creamy Garlic dressing... got pints of each to go...

For ten years, we drove past this place on our way to/from the airport. Each time, I'd mention wanting to go there, but never did. Until last year. We finally stopped and had a meal. Since that first trip, we've been back more than half a dozen times. We're kind of hooked on Andrew's. The wife loves this place. For me, it takes me back to when, as a kid in the 80s, I'd go to dinner with my family at the Brown Derby in Akron, OH. Not a bad thing at all. Just very much a time capsule. Solid, traditional food. Andrew's big thing is their wood-smoked rotisserie chicken and ribs. Cooked on the centerpiece of the restaurant--what my daughter calls the "wall of fire"--an open flaming rotisserie. They have other entrees, but this is what people come here for because they do these two things really well. And any of the rotisserie chicken meals won't break your budget while delivering a huge amount of tasty food. Andrew's is in a stripmall. It's dark, but not in a bad way. It feels like the past. It's popular with older folks and families. It's a little noisy, but you don't have to shout to have a conversation. If you like delicious, simple food done the same as it's probably been done for more than 50 years, for less than you'd expect to pay anywhere, this is your spot.

It was a pretty happening place. If you are old and retired. Calamari was eh. Mai Tai was the best thing here. 1/2 ribs and 1/2 famous wood rotisserie chicken it was okay but not worthy enough for me to want to go back here. I probably would not even recommend this place to anyone.

We had the chicken and ribs house special. The food is very good, the prices are very good, and the service is excellent. We stopped by early in the and were one of only two couples there .

Hasta la FEASTA, Baby! The potatos are back! Hopefully they stay this way, I love Andrew's and I hope they don't revert back to whatever they were doing with the mashed potatos to make them taste... dare I say... powdery......... :::shivers:::

I see old people. Yes, this is a popular senior citizen hangout. Which is ok with me...I'd rather trip over a walker than a baby stroller. And no complaints about the blue plate special-style pricing! If nothing else, this place gives you a lot of food for your dime. As for the food....I tried the highly recommended wood-roasted chicken, and it was definitely something I would order again and again. One of my DC's ordered the ribs, and I had a taste...I'll admit, it was not the best BBQ rib I ever had. Just a little tough. I much prefer Smoque and Fat Willy's, and even Carsons. But, it wasn't inedible...I was just glad I got the chicken. I've also heard good things about the pork chops. It's not the kind of place I'd go out of my way to visit, but if I was in the area, hell yeah!

I've had more bad experiences than good ones at this restaurant. From salad that was recently washed iceberg lettuce and half-assedly cut tomatoes, to tasteless french onion soup, to nearly raw steamed vegetables, to the worst of all, over cooked and dry meat. I've had lamb, ribs and pork chops that were clearly overcooked and sitting out before the server even brought it to the table. The service is also hit-or-miss. I've had about the same number of bad servers (and even worse host/ess). The average trip includes on most occasions, a long wait despite open tables or a reservation, wait staff that rarely checks for refills and would often leave without waiting for an answer to their "how are you doing?" checkup, water spots on silverware, and a managerial staff that is just going through the motions. Honestly, I don't know how this place will stay in business once their regulars move or pass on. The only reason I go there is for the fact that my mother likes their food and their prices. The only dish that was worth the trip was a chicken dish that was surprisingly (given my past experiences) moist. That's what she said.

Henry (a recent reviewer) couldn't have said this better: "As soon as (we) walked in the door, I felt like I was in a Berwyn funeral home." This is so perfectly said! Andrew's feels exactly like that. Here are some of my own: ++ Recent census data confirms that the median age of Andrew's guests is 73. ++ Special discount for patrons who drive a Buick or Oldsmobile. 5% additional if it features the gear shifter on a stick OR dusty-blue velour upholstery. ++ Metamucil on the Rocks is a featured cocktail. ++ 68% of all diners are wearing elastic-waist pants at any given moment. I think I should stop now and get to the serious review. Which is: ANDREW'S IS AWESOME. A great little tucked-away place that is more throwback or Wisconsin supper-clubbish than hip barbecue joint (even though it's full name - Andrew's Open Pit - connotates otherwise). This isn't high-end cuisine by any means but it doesn't try to pretend to be that. Just take a look at the wall when you walk in and the "wallpaper" discount menu will tell you that. RECOMMENDATIONS: ANY of the roasted chicken options Pork chops (but don't expect 2-inch steakhouse cuts here) Fresh side salad with balsamic vinaigrette Shrimp DeJohnge NOT SO GREAT: Service Sauces (seem very processed/Sysco like) Accept Andrew's for what it is and you will come away feeling satisfied. AARP members and regular folks alike.

This is down the street from my house... we have tried it a few times... I hadn't realized that I'd never reviewed it until I read my dear friend, Darren's, review... and well, I've got my own issues. I understand that when I order my steak well done, I do so at my own risk, it's the case everywhere... but everytime I order steaks at Andrew's I don't even get one that is Medium! My 6 yr old daughter loves a medium steak, so one night I ordered their filets and had one well for me and one medium for her... BOTH were rare! Seriously, my daughter nibbled the edges of her meat because she felt it was too bloody, and this is a kid that thinks well done tastes like a shoe... so it's not just that it wasn't done well enough for me. Admittedly, however, I am giving the restaurant 3 starts because the ribs are good and the chicken is good and my son has enjoyed all he's eaten on the kids menu. For what it's worth, the service is mediocre, we have waited over a half our for our server to return to our table after dinner was served, on several occasions. Will we be back? Yes... I gave it 3 stars not 1 or 2, but is it my favorate restaurant for what they have, no... it's convenient though.

Long, long wait for food. Waitress mediocre, I have always loved their ribs. Today they were tough and dry, and more bone than meat. Was even hard cutting them with a knife. Corn on the cob must have been heated over and over, very disappointed in the ribs. Even the baked potato was dry and parts were hard . Will be a long time before we go there again.

Good home cooked food. Wait staff is friendly. The restaurant is a little dark inside and the crowd tends to be more advanced in age. Prices are good, food is excellent. The rotisserie chicken is one of the specialties and worth the trip. Call ahead on weekend nights or you may run into a wait.

Have been going here for 10+years. Each time it seems the service gets a little more, shall I say, inattentive. Last night we waited almost 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. Manager was waved to and a server came shortly and took drink order. Then another server came to take drink order. We told her someone already was getting our drinks. I then went to washroom. Upon returning, my dinner companion told me the servers got into a squabble about taking the drink order, right at the table.......AAAAAwwwwwkward. I ordered one of their best dishes, shrimp dejoghne, but the shrimp was a little tough. (wah wah wah ) Dinner companion had chicken and ribs, but the ribs were room temperature. In the end our first round of drinks were comped...nice. We decided not to say anything about the food. I hope this is not the beginning of the end for Andrew's.......We'll be back.

I love Andrew's! I was there last night for my friend's birthday. Their chicken is the best, and you can get broccoli and carrots instead of corn if you like. The broccoli is so huge and delicious! We had an excellent waiter and he remembered what everyone ordered. I had the beef barley soup as well and it had a tomato base rather than a beef broth. I liked that as it was something different. You can get your choice of soup or salad witht the meals, along with potato or rice, and choice of veggie. And it is not expensive. Thumbs up all the way around.

This place reminds me of a supper club. It has the wood walls and everything. We were probably the youngest ones in there, but that's OK. I love the 1/2 chicken. I would definitely recommend that. It's perfectly roasted until the skin is crisp and tasty. I usually don't eat the skin, but I make an exception at Andrew's. I always add a little salt to the chicken and it makes it even better. The side dishes are fine but generally could use a little seasoning. I had the broccoli and carrots tonight, and they were just plain vegetables. They were fresh and everything, but they were steamed and that's it. I added some salt and pepper which helped (if you like salt and peppered vegetables). The gravy is a little weird. I recommend the baked potato rather than the mashed with gravy but that's just me. Oh, and everything here is super inexpensive. The 1/2 chicken dinner was $7.95 and my Mai Tai was $4.75. Our service was good, too. The food came out quickly. We were there at about 8:00 in the evening, though, so it was a little later than some have mentioned. Overall, I would definitely recommend Andrew's.

Made a reservation for 2:15 pm today, Father's Day. I knew it would be busy, that is why I made the reservation for six. Traffic on Dempster and Milwaukee was backed up so we called at 2:12 to let them know we would be late. When we arrive we were told we were late for our 2pm reservation. Unknown to me, they changed our reservation to 2pm. Result: John the host, told us that they gave our table away because we were so late. When I looked at the reservation pad I noticed that the :15 had been changed. When I pointed that out to John, he said "Don't touch our stuff." We left. John said he was stressed. John has no customer service skills. Didn't have a chance to try the food .. . . . with that kind of a reception we probably will never return.

Upon walking into this place, I didn't think I'd like it. Quite a few older people in there. However, the food is very good, and the waitstaff is actually friendly. In the cold weather, they have the fireplace going, which looks cozy, but will actually roast you if you sit in the vicinity. It is super hot over there. Also sitting next to the open pit kitchen is hot. The steaks are good and reasonably priced. The portion sizes are really good. I had a shrimp dish that was on their special menu one time, it was outstanding!

Food is consistently good!! Their barbecue is delicious. I don't think that I've ever had anything at this place that I didn't like. The food is always cooked fresh and good. The wait staff has always been very friendly and nice. My family and I have been coming to this place for years that they don't disappoint. They also offer great specials. What a nice family restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. I would recommend this place to everyone. Although on the weekends, I would recommend making reservations they do tend to get busy during the dinner rush. Enjoy!!

We had lunch here after visiting the doctors' office. It has a sign saying Best Restaurant in the Area or something like that - their self-confidence drew us in. The vegetables were fresh, my wife's fish was firm, cooked just right and obviously not frozen. I had stuffed shrimp which could be anything, really, from something purchased at Restarant Depot to something they actually constructed. They were OK. A nice romaine salad came with each dish with many choices of dressings. The uantities were generous, the prices reasonable, the service was efficient. This is basically a Greek diner with a 1970s pizza parlor ambience, that is to say, everything is beige or brown, carpeted floor, tiffany kind of lamps. But it is what it is. They are sincere about what they do and it comes through. We told them we would write a nice Yelp review documenting our experience, and here it is!

Went here for a bday dinner with the family. Liked the full dinner menu even though I'm not over the age of 70 yet :) I will definitely be going back for the steak or half chicken dinner.

I did like the place but only soso. Had the pork chops good flavor but a little dry. Was difficult to get the water glass refilled, so loses points on service. Yes the Median age is about 73 here, but better to be on that end of the curve than on the chucky cheese side. So that's a push for me. The wife's fish was good. I think I shoulda gone with the chicken. I may try it again but not in a hurry to get back.

Great restaurant to bring the family. The service was great. We had hungary small children with us so they brought their meals out fast and early. It was fun to show the kids the chickens roasting on the pit. Portions are large and tasty. Two people can easily share one meal with perhaps an extra salad. The prices are excellent - you get great food for a great price.

I like meat. I like it when it comes in decent portions. I really like it when it comes in decent portions and is reasonably priced. I really really like it when it comes in decent portions and is reasonably priced and is actually really good. That is why I like Andrew's. Everytime I have been in Andrew's there is ALWAYS a crowd. I mean always. WIth that being said, sometimes service can suffer a tad - it seems like some of the wait staff get a little flustered when they experience a crowd. However, it is a great place to have a conversation and relax with friends. We ordered the fried calamari which tasted, OH whats the word, orgasmic? No. And I can't believe I just used that word. Let's just say it was really good. Then comes the standard dinner salad. Nothing amazing about it - but its some lettuce and a tomato in a bowl. What else do you expect? The bread- I like! It always comes to the table warm and delicious. Then onto the main course. You can't go wrong with chicken here. It is always cooked perfectly, and always juicy, never dry. The steak I had was great too - however cooked probably a minute longer then I would have liked, but still good none the less. One of the people dining with us ordered the burger, well done. Not my thing - but people like what they like. She had only but a couple bites and was not very satisfied with the burger, which I have never tried from there,l but the blue cheese burger does sound very enticing for next time. Anywas, maybe it was because of the way it was cooked or what - but it was not an ace-in-the-hole for her. Everyone else enjoyed their chickens and steaks and ribs galore. I will always come back for more!

Unfortunatley I can't review the food....I was never served. I was left sitting at my table for 15 minutes. Finally a bus boy brought me dome water and walked away. Waitress never showed. I left and the hostess just smiled and said " have a nice night". At least I got that!

It's a lot nicer on the inside than you would guess from the parking lot. The food is delicious and you get plenty of it. You're not going to find anything fancy, just good old comfort food at a crazy price. Three pork chops for under $9? You can't beat that!

Stopped on in for lunch last week. The restaurant draws in an older crowd... but the food was decent. I had the pork chops (three pieces), with veggies (carrots and broccoli), french fries and clam chowder. All was tasty and no complaints, and surprisingly the pork chops tasted even better the next day. Server we had was fine, attentive as needed.

Ancient man would hunt and stalk Mastodon across the plains of Pangea so as to feed his family for weeks on the meat from a successful hunt. Today he can do just about the same without having to wear a bear skin jock strap with an obsidian knife shoved in his waist pocket. All you need is a small amount of coin and your car will tip over like fred flinstone's when you walk out of this place with your doggie bag.

Okay, I gave some of you some grief for the cracks about the older clientele. Well, I now see what prompted those comments. As soon as my wife and I walked in the door I felt like I was in a Berwyn funeral home. And it seemed like each time the door opened, the feeling felt stronger. I simply was quite uncomfortable. Now, when it comes to the meal, it was a completely different story. We were seated near the kitchen, no problem. That only meant we were more to ourselves. Our server, who I took to be Russian, was very friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and asked more than once if the food was satisfactory. She handled herself very well. She needn't have worried. The food was more than satisfactory. We started with an appetizer of 12 barbeque wings. I don't like barbeque but none of the other choices appealed to me. They were delicious. Hot and meaty with a sauce that wasn't offensive in the least. My wife ordered a double filet with carrots and broccoli which she enjoyed, but ended taking half of it home. I had what was called the "Back to the Future" burger that was perfectly cooked and served on light rye bread with an order of fries. I really liked both. For dessert, she had apple pie ala mode and I had tiramisu. I loved it. I couldn't believe the size of the serving, and I could kick myself for not taking an order home. All in all, a pretty darn good experience. But I have to say, old age does not give someone the right to be cranky, bitchy or just plain rude in public. Consider those that are going to be around you when you decide to go out.

hmm.....I am torn, just torn between 3 and 4 stars....... The open pit barbeque is good eatin'. The salad is ok, forgetable really. I always order the barbeque chicken and rib combo. I get the chicken all white meat. Very good. Sizzling, juicy, tasty. The baked potatoe is bigger then average. Good also. Problems I have had there: service is really slow. And lets say, just be careful of the time of day you go in there, and leave it at that.

Absolutely awesome value. Think a traditional old-wood, older-clientele ambiance; definitely the type of place you could take your folks or other relatives. Don't let the unassuming strip-mall locale fool you - inside is some of the best food you'll get in the northwest suburbs. Although I put it in the "American" category, there's a significant Greek influence - you'll always find lamb on the menu as well as other traditional Med dishes. Treat yourself to the shrimp dejonghe appetizer; it's well-worth it. Service can be a little slow depending on crowds, but is always polite and accomodating. This isn't the hippest place you'll ever eat, but it's reliable and relaxed, and chances are you'll rave about your meal afterwards.

I have been to Andrews many times in the last few years, but the service and food gets worse and worse. The waitresses seem very unhappy and bring that service to the customers. I was with some friends and were waiting for one more person who had to be late because of work. They would not seat us until the whole table was there even when I explained that my husband just had surgery and could not stand long. They refused to seat us and were not very nice about it. By the time my friend came I had lost my appetite. Managers are very rude and do not care about the customers, only the money.

I love andrews! Its a cozy place with a fireplace, and the chicken being roasted on a spit over the fire right in the open where you can see it. Its usally the older seniors who are majority of the crowd, but reguardless of that there 1/2 roasted chicken dinner is amazing! And the cream of chicken soup that comes with it (on sundays) Is amazing as well! Every time i've came here, thats been about the only thing i've gotten, and im so disapointed when we come on a saturday because they don't have that soup except sundays! They also have good steaks here, but they tend to overcook them, so if you like it medium or medium rare, make sure you ask for it a level under what you'd normally get, I ordered a steak medium once and it was completly well done and dry.. but overall andrews is a great place, and they give a lot of food, so good for leftovers!

If you're looking for the best turkey club sandwich then this is the place to go. Thats one of my favorite meals and they do it perfectly. The bacon is crisp, the lettuce and tomatoes are fresh, and the turkey is delish...the steak fries arent too shabby either...a must try...

I've been a customer of Andrew's for several years. The decor is nice, the food excellent and the prices reasonable. There is a brick oven located at the rear of the dining room. You'll always find chickens roasting on the spit. I've never had a bad meal there. At times, the restaurant is crowded. For large groups, I've had to wait, even with reservations. Try the wood roasted oregano chicken and the peppercorn ranch dressing.

First of all, I love Andrews. I have been going there since it first opened. Their chicken is the best!!!!!! They also have the best Balsamic Vinaigrette salad dressing I have ever eaten. Tonight (St. Patrick's day), we worked late and went there for corned beef and cabbage. It was awesome. The corned beef was perfectly trimmed with not one bit of fat, and tasted fabulous. The cabbage was cooked to perfection, as were the carrots. As always, the wait staff is great, pleasant, friendly and helpful. Like someone else said, order the broccoli and carrots rather than the corn when ordering chicken. They are to die for. I don't know how they cook them, but the broccoli is a perfect green and still crispy. The carrots are huge and crispy. The bread is also excellent and we find it difficult to stop eating it. Salad is crisp and fresh. Portions are large (I almost always need a "Doggie Bag")..... and it's reasonably price

good reasonable comfort food. Read some of these reviews, ageism exists. Shame on you young whippersnappers, you should be beaten with a cane. Go to a place with a lot of older folks and you will probably get value and dirty looks if you dont stay off your cell phone. Everything is pretty darn good except I would not recommend the sirloin steak. Go between 3:30 and 6:30pm to avoid the young people, they smell funny.

I really enjoy Andrew's. This place offers good service, extremely generous portions at reasonable prices, and a great selection. I used to live in Des Plaines and loved dining in or ordering take out from this place. For ~$10 per meal you will leave with grocery sized bags over-stuffed with chicken, vegetables, bread, salad (wow I am starting to salivate just thinking of this place), even napkins and utensils. Dining in is also a great experience and you can see the brick ovens which rotisserie the chickens towards the back of the dining room. It's a little dark inside, and at times over-crowded, but they can usually seat you in a short period of time. And, if you do have to wait, there is often an empty seat at the bar up front. Wait staff has always been friendly. Although they offer particular specials, I usually find myself enjoying the chicken oregano, a salad with creamy garlic, and if grabbing an appetizer the shrimp de jonghe. I always leave there stuffed, usually with leftovers. Yes, it is definitely an older crowd, and I tend to reset the age curve, but I will take this over the screaming babies any day of the week. It's not the fanciest place, but I have enjoyed dates there and wish they were closer to where I live now, as I'm sure I would be enjoying them regularly.

Ok, this is not a romantic date place where you put on your classiest outfit and wow your sweetheart with the finer things in life. It's not the place you tell your friends about in that breathless "Oh my god, you have to try Andrew's Open Pit and Spirits" way. I believe they sell holiday gift certificates, but I would only buy a holiday gift certificate to Andrew's Open Pit and Spirits for a select group of people. Elderly people. People who like "joints" and who are made suspicious by the word "bistro" or "trattoria." This is where you come to put huge portions of reasonably priced meat in your face. This is accomplished under dim lighting that ages everyone by about 15 years, preferably after you've drunk the house mai tai, a $4 "tropical delight." The servers will take your food order and eventually bring food to your table and supply you with your check. Since the lighting makes them look like the reanimated dead, that's probably all you want to see of them while you're trying to eat. As you can imagine, the joint gets crowded on a Saturday night. Giant takeout menus are posted on the walls, and they call to me with the promise of giant pork chops and plump roasted chickens to go.

Andrew's is near Des Plaines (80%+ of population is comprised of longtime AARP members). The word geriatric seems to come to mind when describing this diner. The food comes out relatively quickly, but don't expect to always fit your lunch in within the hour. You'll be one of the few whipper snappers in the joint, but you won't need an AARP card to get hooked up with a big meal on the cheap. I love their 1lb pork chops for $7. Not a fan of zeh peeg? How about a quarter chicken and a 1/3 slab of ribs with sides for $9? Whatever strikes your fancy, come hungry and bring reinforcements... you'll probably need help being rolled out the door. Considering its nearby competition is pretty much a Portillo's and an Old Country Buffet, Andrew's is probably one of the nicer restaurants in the area for good food on a lean wallet. Located just off the I-294, this place is a short commute from O'Hare and makes for a good lunch or dinner spot.

The food is excellent, except for the water-logged corn on the cob.The service REALLY sucks. We have gone for lunch on many occasions, on limited time, only an hour, and it takes a half hour to 45 minutes to get our food? We usually get back to work a half hour late. 4 stars for the food but you lose one for the service. And as many old people as you'd see at Old People Buffet.

I have been coming to Andrews since they opened with my mom and yes, my old grandma. Andrews has some of the best American staples for an unbeatable price. I highly recommend the pork chops, skirt steak, and dijon shrimp. I also enjoy the simple sides like mashed potatoes, broccoli, salad with peppercorn ranch dressing (SOOOO GOOD!), and their cream of chicken and rice soup. Staff are usually very friendly and helpful, and seating is usually very quick. Perhaps this is not the best spot for a date night, but if you want a relaxed and cheap meal that will still leave your tummy full and happy, this is the place.

umm well everyone is right about the price of the food, it's cheap. unfortunately I feel as though they sacrificed flavor and quality to achieve that price. The pork chops were thin, bland and overcooked. the mashed potatoes were ok and so were the steamed vegetables. The soup was thick and chalky. I passed on dessert in fear of how they would screw that up. They offer spirits, however they don't have a list of them anywhere. Their beer list was basic domestic bottled beer, no taps. The waitress struggled to mumble off three different types of beer they had, I cut her off at Miller High Life and ordered a Miller Lite. Drive two block east, eat at Portillo's and get cold beer in an iced glass.

Their prices are incredibly reasonable. Dishes are generously proportioned and decent, side dish of vegestables (usually broccoli and carrots) are made perfectly. I love their Calamari the most which is the best you can get anywhere! I'd be happy with just ordering Calamari. Other items that I can't get better anywhere else is the Lentil Soup (which unfortunately they only serve on a certain day) and the generic Tiramisu is great :) and I like how their Greek Salad is served with generous porition of real anchovies too. But seriously they need to find better salad dressings. There is not one that I like. I'd give this restaurant 5 stars for the Calamari and Lentil Soup alone.

I visited Andrew's this past week and absolutely loved the place. The food was great as well as the prices. I especially enjoyed it because of the great service which I received by a very sweet and attentive Polish girl, Asha (not sure if I'm spelling that right). She was very friendly and made the dinner so much more enjoyable for us. We will definitely be back.

Nothing to make it totally stand out and make it a five star place, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with this restaurant. There tends to be an older crowd most of the time, especially early in the night. I like to sit in the bar area because the bartender that is usually there is a cool guy. I've been to this place numerous times and had a variety of barbecue dishes, fish, and shrimp. The shrimp de jonghe is fantastic and the chicken is always tender. The prices are very very reasonable and they always have decent specials as well. Good service and usually always a crowd, but not a wait too often. Good for large parties and family gatherings, especially at the end of the meal and your bill won't make you pass out.

Andrews has very good roasted chicken , place is usually crowded, if you're in a hurry check out the menu in the bar area......

Excellent Food and you definately cannot beat the price! Sometimes the service is a little to be desired, but the owner is very nice and like I said----The Food is very impressive. One of their specialties is the rotisserie chicken. The Greek salad is amazing too!

This was a really great place to eat, UNTIL TODAY! I would have given it 4 Stars, BUT THEN TODAY HAPPENED! 2 of my friends and i decided to go, once again,(maybe our 20th time in 2 years) to enjoy a great meal at Andrews. We arrived just before 6PM. We were offered either a wait for a table(30 Minutes), or a trio of 3 seats at the bar in order to eat ASAP. We ate at the bar(first time), and the place was packed on Saturday May 12, 2012. We each ordered, and our server was the Bartender named BUD. He was very busy, but he did not rush us, and he took our 3 orders with ease. He made it BOTH enjoyable and fun to dine at the bar. I ordered the 3 Pork Chops, Medium Well, BUT DUE TO THEIR BEING EXTREMELY BUSY, MY FOOD CAME MEDIUM RARE, INSTEAD! But i overlooked that, because they were so hectic. BUT, WHEN I PUT ONE OF THEIR LAST CARROTS ON MY PLATE, INTO MY MOUTH, I WAS BOTH RUDELY SURPRISED, AS WELL AS IN PAIN! I WAS NOT ABLE TO SPIT OUT THE CARROT AS WHATEVER WAS IN THE CARROT, WAS PUNCTURING THE INSIDE OF MY CHEEK. I HAD TO CAREFULLY CHEW THE CARROT(WITHOUT SWALLOWING), WHILE PULLING OUT THE APPROXIMATELY 20-25 PIECES OF WHAT BOTH FELT LIKE AND LOOKED LIKE, PIECES OF TOOTHPICKS THAT WERE LODGED IN BOTH MY MOUTH AND CHEEK. IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE REMOVING FISH BONES FROM ONE'S MOUTH! I LINED UP THE PIECES ON THE OUTER RING OF MY DINNER PLATE, SO THAT BOTH MY FRIENDS AND WORKERS COULD SEE THE EVIDENCE. I MOTIONED FOR THE MALE GREETER AT THE FRONT DOOR TO COME OVER AND SEE WHAT HAD TRANSPIRED, WHICH HE DID. THEN HE DID SOMETHING THAT I THOUGHT WAS VERY UNUSUAL. HE TOOK MY PLATE, WENT BEHIND ME TO ANOTHER TABLE BY THE WALL, AND TRANSFERRED MY HARD TOOTHPICK LIKE PIECES TO ANOTHER SMALL PLATE, IN ORDER TO SHOW THE OWNER OR MANAGER(EITHER ANDY OR BILL) THE EVIDENCE. HE COULD HAVE DONE THIS AT THE BAR IN FRONT OF ME, BUT INSTEAD WENT BEHIND MY BACK, SO AS NOT TO LET ANYONE ELSE SEE THE PROBLEM THAT JUST OCCURRED, THEN BROUGHT MY PLATE BACK TO ME WITH THE REST OF MY UNEATEN FOOD ON IT. MY FOOD WAS OUT OF MY SIGHT WHILE THIS WAS BEING DONE. THEN THE OWNER(AS I WAS TOLD) CAME INTO THE BAR AREA, AND WALKED OVER TO ME, TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE COOKS INSPECTED THE HARD RESIDUE IN ORDER TO LET ME KNOW THAT IT WAS JUST VERY HARD CARROT FIBER. ARE THE COOKS NOW FOOD INSPECTORS TOO? IF A CHILD OR ELDERLY ADULT SWALLOWED THOSE PIECES, AND THEY LODGED IN THEIR THROATS AND EITHER CHOKED OR DIED, THEN WHAT? WHEN THE CARROTS WERE CUT, DIDN'T THE COOKS FEEL THAT THE CARROT WASN'T CUTTING PROPERLY? THE VERY LEAST THE RESTAURANT COULD HAVE DONE, IS EITHER REDUCE THE BILL OR COMPED A DESSERT, OR A FUTURE MEAL. MOST RESTAURANTS WOULD HAVE AT LEAST VOIDED MY MEAL ON THE TICKET, AS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER THAN POSSIBLY HAVING TO PAY EITHER THE HOSPITAL BILL, OR THE LAWSUIT. BUT IT IS BOTH A COMMON COURTESY AS WELL AS GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO COMP A MEAL THAT COULD HAVE HAD DIRE CONSEQUENCES, ESPECIALLY WHEN THEIR WAS BOTH EVIDENCE AND WITNESSES TO THE EVENT. THE OWNER OR MANAGER MADE NO ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, IN ANY FORM! SO AFTER SPENDING AROUND $1,000.(INCLUDING TIPS) IN A 2 YEAR PERIOD, VOIDING A $20. MEAL SEEMS TO BE A BOTHER TO THE OWNERS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT! THIS MAKES ME FEEL THAT THIS RESTAURANT JUST LIKES TO MAKE ITS MONEY, AND DOESN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT THE WELL BEING OF ITS CUSTOMERS. JUST COME IN, EAT, PAY, GET OUT, NEXT! I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE TO SOMEBODY!

I've eaten here quite a few times, and I'm only in my mid 40's. Kind of unusual, since most customers seem to be 65+. Makes me wonder if the senior discount is 50%, kind of like Kmart's blue light special's of years gone by. I'm sure 98% of the customers remember what blue light specials are. The good thing is that there are rarely crying, screaming, booth kicking kids here, (or any kids for that matter. Actually, the food is really good for the price. The service is usually pretty good too, but there's is almost always at least a short wait to be seated for dinner. Portions are large, so skip the appetizers unless you are really hungry. Skip the desserts all together, they don't have any worth getting, this is the area needing the most improvement. Other gripes include the fact that they never give enough butter even for the bread (8 slices of bread with 3 butters is the norm), let alone the baked potato. The server always makes about 2 extra trips just for butter. Also, when you order a pop, they give you ONE REFILL. Kind of unheard of these days. This would not be a problem if the 12 ounce glass wasn't full to the rim with ice. Pop syrup is one of the cheapest things a restaurant can buy, yet they ration it like it's gasoline! The parking lot is large, but always packed due to the strip mall location. There's usually a few spaces though. All in all, I wish this place was closer to me, the good food and reasonable prices would make me eat there every week.

Four stars only for the steak and chicken. I think most of their other foods are forgetable. I never have liked the salad that comes before the meal. The salad is always extremely watery, like there's water covering the lettuce and water and the bottom of the bowl. Plus, no croutons? BLASPHEMY! It's lettuce and a tomato. Anyhow, I get the steak which is their sirloin. I always take it well done, and it's a gamble if Andrews's cook will actually give me it well done. I'm confused why the cooks there can't get it well done?? My grandma and other family members LUV the wood roasted rotisserie chicken. I mean, LUV it.. I've tasted it, and it is juicy and tender and yum! So, Andrews is a place to try for either the steak or their chicken. I've had their fettucini alfredo and wasn't impressed at all. Their steak fries are, well, steak fries. Nothing special about those. OH! I almost forgot. Their garlic salad dressing is soo good. I dip the bread in the garlic dressing, I dip the fries in the garlic dressing. I even dip the steak in the d*mn garlic dressing! LOL. If you're trying Andrew's for the first time, def take the chicken. I gave an extra star just for the garlic dressing!

Maybe.

  • Bob Z.

I am a fan of their 'open pit' chicken - the meat was juicy, and the skin was pretty tasty and cracklin' with all that fat that just marinated itself over the pit. +'open pit' chicken :D

Great salads. . .Reliably good (not great food). . .never overcooked or poorly served. . .large portions. . .great value and something for everyone. I have tried a variety of dishes other than the salads and have only been disappointed slightly one time out of about 20 visits!

  • Clement C.

You have to have the chicken when you come here. The open oven smells wonderful and the price is right. Great family restaurant.

This isn't the hippest place you'll ever eat, but it's reliable and relaxed, and chances are you'll rave about your meal afterwards.

hmm.....I am torn, just torn between 3 and 4 stars.......
